Over 100 racing enthusiasts participate in the 3-day championship
Mumbai, 24 January 2017: Mumbai witnessed an action packed weekend as the three day Indian National Autocross Championship 2016 came to an end yesterday. The Mumbai edition marked the 6th round of the Maruti Suzuki Autocross Championship, which will be followed by individual rounds in Jaipur and a final round at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida. The championship in Mumbai saw participation from a phenomenal number of over 100 aspiring racing enthusiasts.
Speaking on the successful edition of Autocross in Mumbai, Mr. Mohit Jindal, Regional Manager – Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Over the years Maruti Suzuki has fed the passion of car race aspirants, with extensively challenging and enduring motorsport activities in India. The event was divided under several categories giving participants the opportunity to showcase their driving skills along with the handling characteristics of the cars.
Some of the notable wins at the event were:-
- Dhruva Chand Rashekar – Overall Fastest Driver (driving in Honda City)
- Bani Yadav – Fastest Female Driver (driving in Maruti Suzuki Swift)
- Yogesh Ramesh Dadhia – Fastest Amateur Driver (driving in Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire)
Started in the year 2002, Maruti Suzuki Autocross is the most anticipated event in the racing fraternity for making motorsports more than just a hobby for several amateur auto enthusiasts. The grand finale of this championship will happen at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, this year.
