The foremost Spanish BMX athlete will begin his tour of the country in Mumbai on the 5th of November, followed by stops in Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong and Aizwal
BMX Flatland World Champion and Red Bull athlete Jorge ‘Viki’ Gomez, more popularly known as Viki Gomez, will make his long-awaited and highly anticipated debut tour of India this November – with the Local Hero Tour – with showcases and workshops in Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong and Aizwal. The tour kicks off in Mumbai on the 5th of November, moves to Kolkata the following day, onward to Guwahati on the 7th, Shillong on the 9th and finally, Aizwal on the 11th of November. Open-to-all workshops will be held in Shillong and Aizwal, giving young BMX riders the opportunity to learn tips and tricks from one of the world’s foremost flatlanders.

Born and raised in Madrid, Gomez got his first BMX bike at the age of seven, but only fell in love with doing freestyle tricks on it at the age of 14. By 17, he had registered for his first international competition as an expert level competitor. He won this, and there was no looking back. Gomez has since won the European Championship twice, the Asia Championship twice and Red Bull Circle of Balance, among others.
As previously described by him, Gomez’s method of facing flatland is almost philosophical. He defines his sport as “a fight between mind, gravity and physics combined with movement inertia. A way of surpassing the limits of your imagination”.
