- Superior, multi- functional Telematics platform Openmatics from ZF Aftermarket
- Openmatics Dashboard displays geographic location and centralized vehicle data
- From 2017, ZF will also offer its well-established system for passenger cars & commercial vehicles in India
ZF Aftermarket, the second largest supplier of parts, services and solutions in the global automotive aftermarket launched Openmatics in India, a decade long proven technology at ACMA Automechanika New Delhi 2017 in Booth No. 78, Hall 9. Openmatics is a flexible, open telematics platform for vehicle applications with multiple functions.
Manufacturer independent, the Openmatics system is easy: an onboard unit in the vehicle records the data for all the desired telematics applications. Outsourced servers take over the data conversion and storage. The users access the data via a web portal, for instance on the computer, tablet PC or via a smartphone. The different telematics services are offered as modular software applications i.e. apps, so that the fleet and/or vehicle operators can freely select and combine them as desired. The result: customized telematics solutions. The Openmatics Dashboard offers customers the scope to develop new ideas that enhance customer service. Faster processing of vehicle returns at rental car companies is one potential option. The app helps the rental company to see which vehicles have already been fully refueled as they enter the parking garage. These vehicles are then directed to a quick checkout.
A flexible telematics solution
Users can use Openmatics to update and upgrade their individual set of functions using the selected basic apps – by adding additional apps or deleting them if they are no longer necessary. Also, all additional apps will still be available for future use. Customers can also use individual apps, as Openmatics is a free platform.
An economic telematics solution
Another economic aspect of Openmatics is its simplicity. The users pay only for those telematics functions they use – nothing more and nothing less. Moreover, the investment and installation costs are modest. This is because the users do not have to buy and operate the technology themselves, but just enjoy using the devices, transferring the data, saving the data and the web portal-managed services. Monthly charges are invoiced for the system management, basic apps and any additional apps. The operability of the system is ensured for the entire contract duration.
Sharing his perspective on the launch of Openmatics in India Vijay Khorgade, General Manager and Head of ZF Services India said, “Intelligent connectivity is coming of age in India. It is also a critical need given the constant pressure on the fleet operators to optimize performance. ZF’s Openmatics platform is a proven technology, which will help reduce the fleet management service providers downtime, improve efficiency and overall customer experience. We are extremely happy to share that there is a dedicated team in India to support on requirement of Openmatics.”
