Tata AutoComp Systems Limited, India inaugurated its second manufacturing plant in China on 16th October in Changshu Economic and Development Zone (CEDZ), Changshu. The plant was inaugurated by Mr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Chairman Tata AutoComp Systems Limited and Director Tata Sons, along with Mr. Wang Yang, Mayor of Changshu, Mr. Fan Jianqing Vice Chairman CEDZ, Mr Gerard Beddis Executive Vice President Cherry-Jaguar Land Rover, Mr. Zeng Lingpeng Vice President Cherry-Jaguar Land Rover and Mr. S. K. Ray Acting Consul General India. Mr. Ajay Tandon, Managing Director Tata AutoComp, Mr. Arvind Goel, COO Tata AutoComp from India and Mr. James Zhan, President Tata Sons China were also present on this occasion.
Tata AutoComp Systems Limited, a Tata group company in India, focuses on automotive component business. In China, Tata AutoComp set up Nanjing Tata AutoComp Systems Limited, its Wholly Owned Foreign Entity (WOFE) in Nanjing District, to supply plastic interior and exterior parts for China and overseas OE customers. This is the second plant set up by Tata AutoComp Systems Limited in China.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Chairman Tata AutoComp Systems Limited said “Tata AutoComp is on its way to become a meaningful entity in China. In 2008, it began with a modest entry in this market through Nanjing Tata AutoComp Systems Limited and today it serves many global automotive OEMs. Today, by inaugurating the second plant at Changshu, Tata AutoComp is reaffirming its commitment to invest and grow in China.”
Mr. Ajay Tandon, MD & CEO Tata AutoComp Systems Limited added: “We are committed to grow our presence in China as it plays a vital role in our Global business. While our operations in India are focused on serving OEMs in India, our operations in China – both at Nanjing and Changshu are focused at serving OEMs in China as well as exporting to OEMs in Europe and North America.”
Tata AutoComp Changshu plant has commended its production with supplies to Cherry-Jaguar Land Rover Evoque and Discovery programs and will start supplying for Jaguar cars from next year. Tata AutoComp has invested RMB 20 million in first phase of operation and it will employ 25 people to start with. The plant is equipped with state of the art robotic welding and final assembly facilities. Tata AutoComp plans to expand its Changshu operation in coming years to set up fully integrated manufacturing plant in Changshu and intends to serve Cherry-Jaguar Land Rover and other important customers from Changshu.
